Vita

Anne Leone dives with us deep beneath the surface of the mysterious Mexican freshwater cenotes. Her figures float in a space freed from gravity, refreshed, exuberant and weightless. The focus of her paintings is where body and surface come together and the crystal clear water transforms into luminous, abstract reflections of light and almost psychedelic patterns. Leone works with her own underwater photographs and then renders the images in acrylic on canvas. Finally, she applies a thick, high-gloss varnish layer that emulates the sheen of the water's surface.

Lives and works in Massachusetts und Brooklyn, New York.
