Christian Grosskopf

Christian Grosskopf's paintings have a psychological forcefulness that the viewer can hardly escape and that makes him familiar in a seemingly inexplicable way with the nature and the world of the sitter. In the painting, a greater and greater precision is achieved by varying the application of paint from glazing to impasto, the picture emerges ever more clearly and in greater detail from the background of the picture, the expression becomes more differentiated and the colour tone increases the psychological expressiveness with increasing subtlety.
