Kristin Kolb, born in Braunschweig in 1962, knew from an early age that a life as an artist was hers. Nevertheless, she had to take the diversions of studying pharmacy. She then worked as a registered pharmacist for many years until she decided to realise her lifelong dream in 2006.

Her first attempts at sculpture were focussed on clothing objects. Since 2009, the self-taught artist has been modelling the human figure. The artist finds her role models in the old masters from Goya to Bernini. The child models she works with best reflect the expressions and emotional states she wants to portray thanks to their authenticity and lack of pretence. The artist does not shy away from controversial themes either, but the sculptures are primarily intended to attract through their aesthetics. Only on closer inspection do the deeper levels of interpretation reveal themselves.

Today, the artist primarily devotes herself to intricate animal drawings on found books, whereby the interplay between the title, the design of the cover and, of course, the animals themselves, always results in a fascinating new story.
