Maximilian Verhas

Sometimes endlessly intertwined ribbons of matt or highly polished bronze, sometimes organically shaped, sometimes sharp-edged and architectural. The graceful and dynamic rolling body sculptures by Maximilian Verhas invite the eye to lose itself in their infinity.

Vita

Since 1990 Maximilian Verhas has been dealing with the problem of the immobility of sculpture. His solution: bronze sculptures that can be set in motion as a whole, so that there is no longer a distinction between above, below, inside and outside and an all-visibility of the variety of forms in his bronze sculptures results.

He was born in Essen in 1960 and grew up in Düsseldorf. He studied painting, graphics and figurative sculpture at the Nuremberg Academy of Fine Arts from 1981 to 1986, followed by his studies at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts. Verhas had further study visits to the College of Art in Canterbury and New York. His works are regularly shown in German and European galleries and at international art fairs and are part of public and private collections worldwide.
