Mit seinen

Mit seinen "Aporien" beschreitet Giovanni Castell neue Wege in der digitalen Malerei, die er als Sampling-Malerei beschreibt: Eine Mischung aus virtuellen Räumen, Web-Samples und Renderings und digital bearbeiteten Zeichnungen. Ein wiederkehrendes Motiv seiner Bilder ist das Fenster als Schwelle zwischen Innen und Außen. Als Augadoro - Augentor, wie die Fenster in der Malerei im Mittelalter genannt worden. Die Spannung entsteht aus der Gegensätzlichkeit des inneren und äußeren Raumes. Dabei betont Castell das Dunkle, das "Unlicht": "Ich mag die Dunkelheit, sie hat etwas sehr Malerisches".
